Tomorrow marks the beginning of April and the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
If I make a commitment, that means a blog post a day, from A to Z.
Over 2,000 bloggers have already made that commitment and have mapped out what they're going to write about for the month. Some have begun to prewrite their posts. I haven't even started.
I'm undecided. Those nasty demons of doubt have arisen. What could I possibly write about that would interest others? Will I have the time to actually write something every single day, even though part of this month will be on the road?
So here's the deal. You choose. Let me know what YOU would like me to write about! Here are the options:
1) A poem a day?
2) Short posts about what I've learned from writing historical fiction?
3) Tidbits from my research for Years of Stone, set in 19th Century Van Diemen's Land (current day Tasmania, Australia) OR Rivers of Stone, set in 19th Century Canada and the Pacific Northwest?
4) Short posts about self-publishing on the cheap and that greatest and perhaps most humbling challenge of self-marketing?
You can do this! End my indecision! Please answer via comments or send me an e-mail to bluebethley@yahoo.com and please, please don't call me a slacker!
If you'd like to join this challenge, check out the A to Z Challenge 2014 website!
I vote for #4 - you're going to be doing it anyways, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the swift kick in the pants to get you ever-more-motivated!! Xoxo-R
ReplyDeleteOnly you, kiddo. Sorry, you'll be stuck with poems. But that's OK, you are a poem of my own making.
DeleteI like #2 best;I would learn new stuff. Then #1. You know you can do #1. You did it last October! You could go to the dictionary and blind-pick a word for each letter. That could be done ahead of time so while you're on the road your topic is already chosen.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide, I'm rootin' for you and I admire your stamina! xoA
Thank you so much, Annis, for your encouragement. I'm leaning to poetry, but will keep your suggestion in mind. The main challenge for me is simply to keep the blogs current! Meanwhile, I will look in on YOUR poetry and simply enjoy!
DeleteHi Beth, Nice to read this,
ReplyDeleteThough i have been waiting for the day, in reality in didn't prepare anything in advance and just the other day i got my first one, though i have some plan in mind, suddenly there was some system trouble and a comment trouble from one of the hosts, that too made me in a dilemma like this as your title said: "To blog or not to blog?" finally decided to post, and i aired my first one today morning. LOL
Keep writing
Best
Regards
Philip V Ariel
PS: Hey Beth, please remove the word verification from here, so that your readers can post comments without any hassles. thanks you, This you can do it by visiting your dashboard settings

Thank you for your kind suggestion. I have removed the word verification. Already, spam!!! But that I can delete if it makes it easier. I will visit your posts and wish you the best in the month to come.
DeleteBeth... You have so many things you are doing, I suggest you take the pressure off and take a little time for yourself! Love your writing but love you more! PV
ReplyDeleteThanks, PV (and I think I do know who you are . ..as you just had a birthday, right?). Actually, writing poetry is not adding pressure. Somehow poetry helps me to center. Love to you.
DeleteI love your poems so I would prefer a poem a day but it's your life and your rules!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janet, for your vote. I ended up deciding on poetry, just for the sheer pleasure of trying to write a poem a day.
DeleteYou know you don't have to pick a theme, the only rule is from A to Z... go with whatever you feel like for that letter. If you feel like a poem write a poem. If you feel like writing about your publishing journey, go for it! Whatever you feel inspired to do. I know I would be swinging by to check it out.
ReplyDeleteYou can check out what I'm doing. I must say there is a warning at the top of my posts this year. http://morgandragonwillow.com/2014/04/a-is-for-angry-activist-owning-her-feelings.html
Hello, Morgan. You're already on my list to read, but as always, thank you for your encouragement here. Not everyone is interested in the publishing journey, so that may show up more on the ROW80 blog! See you online!
